In their works Karl Jaspers and Paul Tillich exemplarily broach the connection and disconnectedness of human boundaries, which find expression especially in religious and philosophical traditions. So both also ask for the transcendence and the unconditionality. They attempt to identify their suspect positions as thinkers on the boundary between religion and science, philosophy and theology. Therefore they created such impressive basic approaches to constitute the relevance of religious convictions. Especially the contrast between Jaspers and Tillich proves to be very efficient. By accentuating the connection and disconnectedness of boundaries differently they represent antipodes. In this way the features, strong and weak points of their positions are presented more distinctively.
