Sumario:For the first time, the montane cloud forest of Taiwan was mapped by means of remote sensing. This was done using a machine learning approach that incorporated different input data. The most important predictor was map of ground fog frequencies that has been created using using a newly developed approach for ground fog detection from MODIS satellite data. The machine learning model was trained using point data from the National Vegetation Database of Taiwan.
