Ultrasound procedures are becoming increasingly important as a diagnostic method with few side effects and good availability. Doppler procedures in particular require a certain amount of practice in terms of transducer guidance, settings on the device and evaluation of the images obtained. Despite its high clinical relevance, Doppler sonography has not yet been included in the curricula of German medical universities. Pathological findings can only be seen on images or videos during student training; independent ultrasound examinations by students are not possible. Commercially available phantoms are very expensive and therefore not common in skills labs. The goal of this work is to develop a flow model for learning and practicing stenosis and Doppler sonography. Different realistic flows are to be represented. The model should be easy to reproduce and inexpensive. A positive learning effect should be given by the flow model. In this work it is shown that it is possible to produce a fully operational Doppler and stenosis phantom for less than 100 EUR material costs. According to the results on an evaluation, the flow model is suitable to allow trainee physicians to acquire basic skills in vascular sonography in the skills lab.
