This dissertation examines at the lexical level the interference of the mother tongue by Chinese students in Major German at University in China. Subject area for the dissertation are verbs and verb constructions in German and their possible correspondences in Chinese. This dissertation attempts to answer the following questions: 1. Whether and to what extent the mother tongue or the mother tongue knowledge plays a role in the acquisition and use of German verbs and verbs constructions, and 2. Whether and to what extent the awareness of contrasts for the learning of vocabulary can be made use of for German language lessons in China? The dissertation tries to contribute to the study of the learner language in the study-accompanied German language teaching in China. The aim is also to draw attention to problem areas related to lexical errors and lexical learning and to present didactic proposals with exercises.
