The Fact that caries occurs not only as a large lesion anymore but lately promoted as an initial defect, makes a more sensitive caries detection system needed. Such a system is the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS-II). Up to now there are only little information about the correlation between visual inspection findings, treatment-planning and actual lesions depth. The aim of this study was to verify the correlation of visual inspection results and actual lesions depth. Although reproducibility and validity of lifted findings should be investigated in consideration of all surfaces and restorations. Furthermore the connection between visual inspection findings, treatment-planning and actual lesions depth should be assessed.
