The present work investigates diverent perspectives on the Warao language and Warao speaking in Venezuela. The focus lies on three main perspectives, namely the perspective of the Warao native speakers, the perspective of the catholic capuchin missionaries and the perspective of the Venezuelan state. The work is based on field research done in the delta of the Orinoco during the years 1999 - 2004. It results that the "Warao language" does not exist as an universal object in the perspective of all actors. Namely the native speakers themselves focus on the concept of "Warao speaking" within their oral culture. The present work does therefore support the Amerindian view that there is no universal reality but just manifold truth.
