In the available thesis the educational concept of the “The Art of Teaching” is represented in its development between 1995 (the publication year of the Text book “The Art of Teaching” by Hans Christoph Berg and Theodor Schulze) and 2003 (the co-operated Lecture of Wolfgang Klafki and Hans Christoph Berg at the congress “Development of instruction” in Luzern, Switzerland. On this basis the question about constituent characteristics of the resulting form of instruction, the so called “Staging Lessons” is discussed. Eight characteristics are found out to clarify the dramaturgi principle, the paradigmatic principle and the genetic principle (following Martin Wagenschein). In addition criteria are compiled for to facilitate the adaptation of the method of “Staging Lessons”. The education-theoretical considerations of Wolfgang Klafki, which are explained in his concept of the Kategoriale education, form the foundation of Berg’s concept of “The Art of Teaching”. In the main part of the work the theoretical insights are made concrete in three complete instruction units, which are presented in detailed descriptions, evaluations and reflections of the paradigmatic examples. The instruction units are called “Linaeus’s Flowers in a Meadow”, “Aesop’s Fables” and „Faraday’s candle”. The exposed characteristics for analysis, optimization and reorganization of “Staging Lessons” prove as suited for instruction practice.
