Die Pfarrkirche zu Kiedrich und die spätgotischen Dorfkirchen im Rheingau. Ländliche Sakralarchitektur auf dem Lande mit städtischem Charakter.

The presented Phil.Diss. persues first the existing historical basis (regional history, law history, ecclesiastical life) which were necessary to let arise sacred architecture with „urban“ character in the Rheingau. A comparing survey of the rural churches in the Rheingau is followed by the question which aim the new- and rebuilding of a church had and which artistic means were used therefore. The urban architectural subjects and quotations were found in the three phases of building of the church in Kiedrich in the ground plan and in the elevation. The models were found as well and the ambitions level resulting out of it is described. Apart from the church building the equipment of the church (chairs, altars) and the existence of a tower were important for the representation of the „urban“ character of the church building. Finaly the question is persued if the described phenomenon is to be found also in other regions.
