總結:The aim of surgery for skull base meningiomas is maximal resection with minimal damage to the involved cranial nerves and cerebral vessels. Compared to non-skull base meningiomas, these lesions show a reduced rate of gross total resection (GTR). Therefore, the use of technologies for improved orientation in the surgical field, such as neuronavigation and augmented reality (AR), is of interest. We confirmed in a consecutive series of 39 patients who underwent surgery for skull base meningiomas that automatic registration with intraoperative computed tomography (iCT) showed high registration accuracy and that microscope-based AR largely facilitated the resection by increasing surgical precision and providing improved intraoperative orientation by visualizing the tumor and the critical neurovascular structures in the operative microscope. No injuries to critical neurovascular structures occurred. There were 26 patients (66.6%) who underwent GTR. Additionally, 33 out of 35 patients who lived to follow-up could ambulate.
