Sumario:The introduction to the third issue of the "Zeitschrift für Interaktionsforschung in DaFZ" (Journal for Interaction Research in GFL/GSL) takes the complexity of the construct of interactional competence as its starting point. It emphasises the relevance of interdisciplinary perspectives in investigating and modelling interactional competences, which are developing dynamically in different contexts. On the one hand, the focus is on interactional teaching competence in the foreign language classroom, which has recently received more attention from the professional community. On the other hand, it sketches out the journal’s concern to strengthen the investigation of learners' interactional competence and to explore its interfaces with related constructs such as communicative competence. The contributions gathered in this issue address these aspects from different perspectives, thus providing an overview of current empirical and conceptual work on interactional competence in GFL/GSL.
