The study on the quality of life of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders was carried out in the clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry of the Philipps University of Marburg. 64 parents (41 parents of children with psychiatric disorders, 23 parents of healthy children) were asked to estimate the quality of life of their children by the ILK-Ratingscale (Inventory for the Assessment of Life Quality in Children) and D-ILK (diagnostic interview for the Assessment of Life Quality in Children). The 11 items of the ratingscale and the interview ask among other things questions about school, family, mental and physical health. The evaluation of the parents interviews was done by Qualitative Content Analysis by P. Mayring (2003) and had as a result the development of an analysis pattern (category system). 14 Rater tested the analysis pattern on the basis of the existing interviews. The interrater reliability was determined by Cohen´s kappa. For half of the 178 categories of the analysis pattern Kappas were in a moderate and good range. The study could show a good practicability of the D-ILK an the analysis pattern shows sufficient Cohen´s kappas. But to use the pattern in praxis it needs a further modification.
