Zusammenfassung:The dissertation is focused on the research on personality traits that can positively influence work behavior and productivity. The relevant personal characteristics self-efficacy, optimism, hope, and resilience can be combined to form the construct of psychological capital (PsyCap), which is a central building block of positive psychology. Previous research results indicate that PsyCap has a positive effect on aspects such as job satisfaction and is associated with reduced stress levels. However, while the individual components of the meta-construct PsyCap have already been examined for their effect on strategic decision-making behavior, it is still unclear whether and to what extent PsyCap as a holistic construct has an influence on strategic decision-making processes and their outcomes. The dissertation builds on this and expands the literature on the importance of PsyCap both theoretically-conceptually as well as empirically. Each of the essays addresses an independent question about the connection between the psychological capital of an individual person and their information processing approach as well as the quality of their strategic decisions.
