In conclusion, this study reveals the cytoplasmic CaT as the most important determinant of the nuclear Ca increase and provides evidence that SERCA function directly modulates passive Ca propagation into the nucleus. Moreover, under physiological conditions, perinuclear Ca load only plays a minor role in the regulation of nuclear Ca. Finally, the major results from WKY rats could be reproduced in SHR, which confirmed the findings and provides an indication of their transferability and validity.
