Synthesis of Disila-Crown Ether Complexes and Heteroatomic Bridged Paracyclophanes

The first part of this work treats the synthesis of hybrid disila-crown ethers. Besides glycol units, these compounds incorporate tetramethyldisilane fragments. Reaction with alkali and alkaline earth metal salts yielded the corresponding complexes, which were among others analysed by means of X-ray diffraction. DFT calculations as well as dynamic proton NMR experiments have shown that the lithium complexes of 1,2-disila-12-crown-4 and 1,2,7,8-tetrasila-12-crown-4 show similar complex stabilities in comparison to the lithium complex of 12-crown-4. In the second part of the thesis, synthetic approaches towards heteroatomic bridged paracyclophanes are presented. Silicon, phosphorus, nitrogen and gallium found application as bridging elements.
