Meanwhile the field of Sleep Medicine has continued to develop and today there are more than 70 known sleep disorders. RBD represents a small proportion of these and was first described by Schenck in 1986. The disease is characterized by a complex acting out of dreams. Interest in RBD grew, due in part as Schenck et al. in 1996 first described the association between RBD and the development of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson disease or MSA. For this purpose a secure and valid diagnosis of RBD is needed. In addition to a thorough self and third-party history, a vPSG over several days is considered today the diagnostic gold standard. In Summary it can be concluded, that Mayer’s automatic analysis is a more elegant and safer method for the differentiation of RBD Patients and healthy persons.
