It is a serious challenge for the obstetrician to take care of a twin pregnancy as well as a twin birth. Risks caused by the mother like diabetes, preeclampsia / eclampsia and risks threatening both of the foetus like preterm contractions and placental dysfunction resulting in discrepancy of growth require the establishment of a risk-adapted prestational and stational supply. Especially hospitals with neonatal intensive care unit offer a great amount of personal as well as technical capacity. That is their particular mark of quality. This work investigates the risk-adapted care of twin birth in the three obstetrics wards like hospital with neonatal intensive care unit, hospital with more than 500 births per year and those with less than 500 births per year on the basis of the Hessian obstetric data source. The analysis shows the result that in contrast to preterm birth and diabetes mellitus much information and organisation is needed with regard to discrepancy of growth between both twins and preeclampsia to consult hospitals with neonatal intensive care unit.
