Cavernomas of the brain stem are vascular malformations which can cause cerebral hemorrhage. Thus far the etiology of cavernomas has not been completely clarified. In particular the risk factors which can lead to a bleeding event, are not sure clarified. This also applies to the problem of how stress can affect the bleeding risk. Increased psychosocial stress seemes to be a suspected trigger. In the literature, this possible association has been given no attention by a systematic investigation. The aim of this study was to examine in a pilot study, whether psychosomatic aspects in form of psychosocial stress can influence the bleeding. Furthermore, somatopsychic interactions were examined, that is, the impact of bleeding on the psyche of the patient.
