Watersoluble molecular clips and tweezers for the complexation of biorelevant molecules. The synthesis and the properties of new molecular clips and tweezers are discribed. Due to their structure and electronic properties they are able to include electronpoor compounds in their electronrich cavity. For the first time the molecular clip on bisphosphonate-base presented here offers the possibility to bind important co-factors such as NAD+ und TPP in water. The molecular tweezers presented here are among the best artificial receptors for the aminoacid lysine known to date. The binding properties of both molecules are examined with several methods such as NMR titrations, isothermal titrationcalorimetry, Langmuir-Blodgett experiments and molecular modelling.
