Summary:
The symmetry of helical polymeric molecules in the crystalline state is treated. The relationship between the chemical designation and the corresponding crystallographic designation (Hermann-Mauguin rod group and space group symbols) is analyzed and presented with actual examples. This includes interlocked multiple helices and helices of joined coordination polyhedra.
