In the following chapter, an overview of the in-vitro study is presented. The materials used and the execution of the pull-out test are explained. Finally, the results are summarized and a conclusion is drawn. This in vitro study examined the zinc oxide eugenol-based sealer Pulp Canal Sealer (PCS) from Kerr. The adhesion between sealer and dentin was determined after heating to various temperatures using a push-out test according to Ebert et al. [33]. In endodontics, various thermoplastic filling techniques are used for root canal filling. Thereby the root canal is filled by heating guttapercha in order to make use of its thermoplastic characteristics. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the zinc oxide eugenol-based Pulp Canal Sealer shows temperature-depending differences in terms of adhesion. The Shapiro-Wilk test revealed a normal distribution in all groups except group 3. Nevertheless, a parametric analysis using ANOVA was applied because it is considered sufficiently robust against the normal distribution assumption when performed using SPSS. The univariate ANOVA yielded p = 0.668. Thus, there was no significant difference between any of the groups. Levene’s test yielded p = 0.227. Thus, it was shown that variance homogeneity existed. The highest adhesive force of 2,75MPa was observed in group 5 (125 °C). The lowest adhesive force was measured in group 3 (85 °C) with 1,61MPa, although the differences were not significant. Analysis of the correlation of fracture modes with bond strength was calculated by the Spearmann-Rho correlation coefficient rs. This was rs = −0 136, so no significant correlation between bond strength and fracture mode could be determined. In summary, no significant difference was found between the adhesive force and increasing temperature or fracture mode.
