Proton and electron current was simultan measured in this publication using the patch clamp technique. Protoncurrent in human Monocytes do have the same biophysical characteristics than in other human phagocytes. But in contrary neutrophils and eosinophils it is possible to cultivate them for longer periods in vitro. Flourescence measurements confirmed the electrophysiological results. This work contributes to the understanding of the respiratory burst and its function plus the intracellular mechanism.
