The retrospective study deals with the phenomenon of psychic comorbidity in multiple sclerosis (MS), one of the most frequent neurological diseases. Based on data from a neurological rehabilitation clinic is investigated, whether MS-patients with and without psychic comorbidity differ regarding several parameters. Altogether remarkable differences could be shown, for example a stronger impairment of participation in MS-patients with psychic comorbidity by longer times of inability to work before rehabilitation and a more negative assessment of their capacity in working life. These results underline the impact of psychic respectively psychosomatic aspects in multiple sclerosis on items of social medicine and suggest a more intensive diagnostic and therapeutic consideration in rehabilitation.
